Bangs Away!!! NaVloPoMo09 Day 27

(download)

I had a few extra moments yesterday to finally do what I've been wanting to do for quite a while. I chopped off my long bangs :) This wasn't the first time that I've done this. Usually I get the feeling to do it. Then whenever I finally get a chance to shower alone (minus my little one year old) and I get a chance to actually wash my hair, I hurry up, get the scissors and GO FOR IT!

On average 50/50 chance that the bangs will be even.

I've gotten used to walking around with crooked bangs. Oh well, they'll grow back :D

Randy's been calling me Moe. Hee hee

Try at your own risk!

I gotta tell you...I feel soooooo much better. I LOOOOOVE my new bangs ala Elsie!

Thanksgiving Day: First Time Facing Forward NaVloPoMo09 Day 26

(download)

Hunter has NEVER been one to ride the car well. In fact I can recall only a handful of times that she's actually been 'ok' in the car. Usually, I have to engage her with songs and chatting the entire time. Often times all this engagement is simply to have her NOT go into a screaming crying fit. She was not made to be bound up and hates to be in the car seat. (I'm sure that she is not alone in this feeling)

Today was a milestone. She is ready to turn around and face forward! She's been ready for a while (at least according to the 1 year and 20 lbs rule regarding when children can be turned forward facing), but I resisted a bit upon reading how much safer children are facing backwards. I decided it was ok now because of her psychological well being and ours

I hope that she enjoys the rides forward :D

Today she did very well. As you see in the video she was zoned out looking at the road and listening to music. I didn't have to sing any songs!

The song you hear is her FAVORITE SONG! Her Daddy started playing this CD when she was a teeny little baby, whenever Mami wasn't around (as she was screaming the entire time) She's grown quite fond of the sounds of the song called "My Heart, My Life". The entire CD called Night Song has become one of my favorites also. It's a beautiful album.

The One Thing... NaVloPoMo09 Day 25

(download)

Only a few more days to go!!!! Less than a week left of posting a video every day!

Ok,

I shot more footage today, and I only chose this snippet because it was the shortest and because I didn't want to edit the other stuff. Lazy. I know. I got some great Hunter stuff, but aren't you guys sick of her? I'M NOT, but c'mon how much Hunter can non family members take? :D

Do I sound TOTALLY ungrounded in this video or what? I need some serious grounding food, I tell ya...and more sleep. that would be good. Sleep is good.

Eating at Whole Foods NaVloPoMo09 Day 24

(download)

I gotta say that this whole NaVloPoMo thing is kinda like running a marathon and I think that I'm hitting a wall ;) It's hard to keep thinking daily about what in the world you are going to shoot a video of.

I'm getting less thoughtful and more 'here's the video camera, i'll just shoot that'.

Hunter and I went to Whole Foods today, so I could post a couple of postcards for my workshop over there. She LOVES the Whole Foods chicken noodle soup!

My Teethies Hurt :( NaVloPoMo09 Day 22

(download)

Hunter had a hard night again. Poor little one. In the morning I caught a glimpse of her gum-line on both sides of her mouth. Both sides were crazy swollen, but especially her left side. She was very cranky all morning until she took a nap. This little bit of video was taken as she woke up from her 1.5 hour nap.

The video speaks for itself.

She's precious.

She had a lovely afternoon by the way. Just lovely. At this moment, she's sleeping soundly. Hurrah for Hyland's Teething Tablets

Elsie Escobar a "New Media Pioneer?" Yep! That's me! yeay :)

(download)

I got the PDF copy of the article for the Nov/Dec issue of Hispanic Business Magazine in which I was featured. There is a quote within this article that I was very flattered by and sorta proud of:

Escobar may be a perfect bellwether: a curios mind drove her to use new media to expand her true passion. Unafraid of trying something new, using herself as a brand, or risking untested business models, she's taking a leap of faith that she can mine some of that untapped potential in new media.

Neato! I like the sound of that 'perfect bellwether'. It forced me to go and look that up, as I can't recall the last time that I came across that word :)

bellwether is any entity in a given arena that serves to create or influence trends or to presage future happenings.
The term is derived from the Middle English bellewether and refers to the practice of placing a bell around the neck of a castrated ram (a wether) leading its flock ofsheep.[1][2] The movements of the flock could be noted by hearing the bell before the flock was in sight.

I am the bell around a castrated ram's neck! ;)

It's a very well written article, very much worth the read. The female new media presence as in many other fields is not strong, and as podcasters, few and far between. Maybe this article will inspire more women to step into new media :) Maybe?

Your thoughts about women in New Media? How about some that really rock your world?

One of my personal female new media power houses is the mighty Zadi Diaz, whom I believe should have very much been part of this article. She is pretty darn inspiring :)

The Raynauds is Back!

When I was pregnant I had a huge shift in my blood pressure. It was full and vibrant. I never had high blood pressure problems, in fact my midwives were quite impressed with my blood pressure. They told me it was stellar :) I actually ran a bit hot, which was never the case before Hunter. I was always cold and and I suffered from Raynaud's Disease. It's really nothing major, it's more of a nuisance :/ My blood pressure used to be low.

I suppose now I'm back to 'normal' in my body. My blood pressure and hormonal levels have now settled back into the before Hunter state, thus Raynaud's is back. Oh well. It was nice to actually feel my proper Pitta self without my usual Vata imbalance

Lots of work to do....again. I want whatever pregnancy did to my circulation to come back!

A Walking Chat To The Bus NaVloPoMo09 Day 21

A Walking Chat To The Bus NaVloPoMo09 Day 21 from Elsie Escobar on Vimeo.

Not my most inspired, but this morning was tough! Just a teeny tiny walk to the bus while I blab about my lack of sleep...

The rest of the day was peachy. It's just these mornings that get me!

The Excitement of the Mundane NaVloPoMo09 Day 20 from Elsie Escobar on Vimeo.

A little bit of seeing the great excitement of daily tasks courtesy of my lovely Hunter Rose.

She makes every moment pretty darn special. She shows me so many magical moments. All I wish is to be able to appreciate them as much as she does :)
